The Community Relations program focuses on community outreach, and informs the public about agency programs, services, and supports provided to individuals with developmental disabilities. The community relations employees promote positive news stories and messages about individuals, and work to create integration within the community. The agency's newsletters, annual report, brochures, flyers, website and social media sites are created, produced and managed by the community relations staff.
The Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for producing, coordinating and promoting the agency's major public events, which include Open Houses, Community Egg Hunt, Things That Go, Family Fun Day, etc. In addition, this position assists with county-wide activities including community integration, recreation and self-advocacy events. Division volunteer/interns are coordinated through this position as well.
The Community Integration Coordinator facilitates county-wide recreational and community integration activities for individuals eligible for WCBDD services, and assists with the coordination of Special Olympics for the Warren County area.
The Advocacy Coordinator provides support and consultation to the Voices Speaking Out self-advocacy group and provides suggestions and recommendations to leadership on advocacy related activities. This includes creating opportunities for individuals served to connect to their communities along with developing training opportunities for individuals to learn about self-determination and leadership. The Advocacy Coordinator serves as the choir director for the Voices of Warren County choir. The Advocacy Assistant helps with all advocacy related activities.
