(Deerfield Township, OH) - The Warren County Board of Developmental Disabilities celebrated its partnership with Goodwill on Thursday at the grand opening of its newest thrift store.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony unveiled the new retail store and donation center on August 29, 2024. This is Goodwill’s 20th Southwest Ohio location.

WCBDD Superintendent Megan Manuel spoke at the grand opening ceremony, stating that WCBDD shares Goodwill’s commitment to supporting people with disabilities and their families to achieve what is important to them.

Goodwill empowers Warren County residents with disabilities by offering employment supports and skills training, including summer youth work experience, pre-employment transition services, job development, job coaching, and individual employment support.

Manuel said she looks forward to seeing WCBDD and Goodwill’s partnership grow.

Ohio Valley Goodwill President and CEO Mark Hiemstra said the opening of the store represents Goodwill’s commitment to the Ohio Valley.

“This expansion speaks directly to the organization's mission of helping people with disabilities and military veterans, in addition to individuals challenged with homelessness and others that get the chance they deserve,” Hiemstra said. “Our organization is about a hand up, not a handout.”

Hiemstra said that local Goodwill consumers provide the necessary financial support to fund the programs and services offered by Goodwill. He thanked The Mason Deerfield Chamber of Commerce and WCBDD for supporting Goodwill’s newest store.

The thrift store is located at 3990 Montgomery Road in Deerfield Township, Ohio.
